CHILDREN held up Welsh flags proudly and dressed in traditional outfits to mark St David's Day on March 1.
Six schools came together in Colwyn Bay for the town's St David’s Day parade. Pupils from Iau Hen Golwyn, Nant Y Groes, Pen y Bryn, St Joseph, Bod Alaw and Rydal Penrhos met in the Queen's Gardens just before 10am. About 400 pupils were involved.
The parade, organised by the Bay of Colwyn Town Council, was led by the Knights of Snowdon Corps of Drums, followed by the Cllr Colin Matthews, mayor of Colwyn Bay, and mayors from surrounding towns.
A spokesperson from Bay of Colwyn Town Council said: "The parade began at Queen’s Garden, continued along Conwy Road, via Station Road and Sea View Road and ended at St Paul’s Church.
"Volunteers from the following organisations helped with the event: Conchar Funeral Directors, St David's Hospice, Together 4 Colwyn Bay, town councillors and St Johns Ambulance. Volunteers from Together 4 Colwyn Bay also visited schools to make large daffodils to display during the parade.
"After the parade, a St David's Day Celebration was held at St Paul's Church. The service was led by Rev Christine Owen.
"All schools took part and sang Calon Lan, Yma o Hyd and the National Anthem, which was conducted by Dilwyn Price."
A St David’s Day Business Window Competition also took place in the town.
