A MAN from Conwy who raised money for charity by running to beat a train in Caernarfon has been recognised for his efforts with an award.
Josh Mottram was as a winner in the sports, arts and entertainment category in the Annual Learning Disability and Autism Leaders’ List by non-profit group Dimensions, which supports those with additional learning needs.
Having first picked up running as a hobby, Josh thought it would be fun to participate in the 5km Race the Train event in Caernarfon to see if he could outrun a train while giving back to his community.

Not only did he successfully raise more than £2,000, but Josh also managed to beat his personal best time, and finished the run in 21 minutes and 18 seconds.
“I feel very proud of myself,” he said afterwards.
Josh was chosen by an expert panel of judges, all of whom are previous “leaders” themselves.
Rachael Dodgson, chief executive at Dimensions, said: “I am deeply inspired by all of their achievements and hope you will join me in celebrating Josh."
Ken Bruce, BBC Radio 2 DJ and “Leaders’ List” award ceremony host, said: “I have had the privilege of hosting the Leaders’ List Awards Ceremony for several years, yet the achievements of the Leaders never cease to amaze me!
“I have been inspired by all the stories and am very proud to be part of an event that rightfully celebrates these achievements.
“A huge congratulations to Josh and all the winners.”
