A LLANDUDNO hotel has been named in the top 10 in two of the UK’s 2022 TripAdvisor Awards, and is looking for more success this year.
The Elm Tree was named the sixth in the ‘Best Romantic Hotel’ list and eighth in the ‘Best Small Hotel’ award for 2022, ranking it the number one hotel in Llandudno according to TripAdvisor.
The awards are a coup for the business, which only reopened in May 2021 after a 14-month closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Owner Lynette Esposito does not take the awards for granted, and the hard work taken to achieve them.
“Our awards are testimony to the committed and passionate team we have and to the loyal guests who take time to leave reviews - it is not taken for granted,” said Lynette.
“Following our reopening in May 2021 after a 14-month closure, business has bounced back exceptionally well.
“Wales has grown its proportional share of UK local tourists and Llandudno has benefited from this.
“Our awards have allowed us to establish a really good reputation to attract new guests and importantly, maintain our existing guests' loyalty.”
Moving forward, Ms Esposito has already turned her attention towards achieving more in 2023, and says innovation and marketing will be key in making further improvements.
Having worked in hospitality for more than 40 years, Lynette believes 2023 will be another tough year for the industry, which is why constant changes and improvement are a necessity.

She added: “My personal opinion as a professional is that 2023 is going to be a really tough year to enjoy close to the same levels of profit as we've done pre-Covid.
On the one hand we will have the benefit of strong demand, and I do think Llandudno/North Wales have done and continue to do a great job.
“We are facing exceptional daunting operational costs which cannot all be passed on through rate increases.
We will need to maximise occupancy, which means consistent and probably increased staffing levels - this is particularly challenging in the hospitality sector which has still not recovered from Brexit and Covid mass skill losses.”
“Never will there be a time that planning, innovation and partnership marketing is more essential and in that respect The Elm Tree will seek alliances with relevant local businesses to add value for money, and enhance guest experience.
“We will continue to deliver the very best guest service and hopefully clinch a place in the 2023 Awards too – we’re up for the challenge!”
