BIRDS of a Feather star Lesley Joseph is set to star in Sister Act The Musical, which debuts at Llandudno’s Venue Cymru this evening (February 13).
Ms Joseph, who starred as Dorien Green in the hit sitcom, will play Mother Superior in the musical adaptation, which will run until February 18.
Sister Act tells the story of a lounge singer forced to join a convent after being placed in a witness protection program, and was made famous by the film of the same name starring Whoopi Goldberg.
The musical also stars former Emmerdale star Sandra Marvin as Deloris Van Cartier, alongside Olivier Award-winning Clive Rowe as Eddie Southern and theatre actress Lizzie Bea as Sister Mary Robert.
The Birds of a Feather star has prepared for the role since May last year, with the production previously delayed by the pandemic.
“I got offered this role three years ago when Whoopi Goldberg was going to do it in London, and I was going to play [Sister] Mary Lazarus,” she told the Pioneer.

“Then of course, Covid happened, so it all got put back and now finally I’m getting Mother Superior on the road.
“It’s sort of been in the offing for some time – I’ve always loved the show and I’m really pleased to be doing it, pleased to be back in theatre.”
Ms Joseph has previously performed in Llandudno, with her most recent appearance in the town for Calendar Girls The Musical.
On returning to the Conwy hotspot, she said: “I’m looking forward to coming to Llandudno, which I love.
“I’ve played here a couple of times here before so I’m really looking forward to that.”
Sister Act The Musical features original music by Tony and Oscar winner Alan Menken and is produced by Jamie Wilson and Whoopi Goldberg.
It debuts at Venue Cymru tonight at 7.30pm.
