A MAN from Penmaenmawr who admitted coercive and controlling behaviour, non-fatal strangulation and malicious communications has been sentenced to prison.

Brandon Bellham, 27, of Esplanade, pleaded guilty at a court appearance in December.

He had been charged with the following offences:

• Engage in controlling or coercive behaviour in an intimate or family relationship.

• Intentional suffocation.

• Racially or religiously aggravated assault, or assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

• Sexual assault on a female.

• Send a letter, communication or article conveying a threatening message.

Today (January 23), he was jailed for a total of six years and four months.

Speaking after sentencing, Detective Sergeant Christopher Williams said: “I welcome today's sentence.

“This demonstrates our commitment to support victims of domestic violence, as well as to relentlessly pursue and prosecute perpetrators.”
