THE Cayley kiosk in Rhos-on-Sea was demolished on last week to kick start plans to build a replacement kiosk in the vicinity.
The Cayley was a popular hub for the community, and was owned by Moussa Salem, a well-known figure in the area.
Mr Salem said he was "really sad to see it go", but looked forward the reconstructed kiosk being completed.
Having stood on the West Promenade for more than 50 years, Conwy County Borough Council took possession of the site on November 14 with plans to demolish.

This is part of the coastal defence work being undertaken in Rhos-on-Sea.
It underwent demolition on Thursday, 12 January, with a temporary replacement funded by Mr Salem already in operation.
A permanent replacement for the kiosk is expected to be completed within a year, but this demolition spells the end of a familiar centre for residents and tourists.
On resident said the loss of the kiosk was "sad but hopefully the replacement will be even better", while another said the new kiosk "will look amazing when finished".
Another looked forward to the replacement kiosk, saying: "It's going to look fantastic and bring loads of revenue into our tired and neglected area."
