A MAN from Colwyn Bay received a suspended sentence after he was found guilty of possession of a knife and a class A drug in the town.
Richard Keating, 49, of Conway Road, was accused of carrying a multitool with a lock knife, and four small bottles of methadone, on Abergele Road on October 5, 2022.
He pleaded guilty to possession of a class A drug, but not guilty to possession of a bladed article, on October 21.
Despite this, he was also found guilty of the latter on January 9.
Keating, who had previous convictions, was sentenced to 26 weeks’ imprisonment, suspended for 12 months.
He was ordered to undergo a six-month, non-residential drug rehabilitation period, and complete a maximum of 10 days’ rehabilitation activity.
His multitool and drugs were also seized from him.
In addition, Keating must pay a £120 fine, costs to the Crown Prosecution Service of £250, and a £154 victim surcharge.
This totalled £524, to be paid as a full lump sum within 28 days.
An application was made for deductions from Keating’s benefits.
