HARDY souls turned up to brave -4 degree waters as Llandudno Boxing Day dip returned following a two-year Covid enforced break.
The dip, organised by The Lions Club of Llandudno, attracted a bumper number of dippers as well as spectators who turned out in their droves to support the event.
Billy Baxter, Llandudno's Official Town Crier, who carried out the countdown to signal the start of the event told the Pioneer: "It is the first official Lions Boxing Day Dip since lockdown, since 2019. There are many intrepid dippers that have registered to all raise funds for a good cause. Some are brand new to it and others are hardy stalwarts that have been doing it for many years."
Some revellers shivered quickly in and out the water whilst others, unfazed, raced back in for a second icy plunge.
Into the water first was a young woman called Emily dressed in a fantastic pink and green monster onsie.
Cllr Carol Marubbi, mayor of Llandudno, went into the waters dressed as a reindeer. Cllr Marubbi raised money towards her three charities; mental health, the lifeboat, and care of the elderly. She has raised £500.
The annual traditional also saw participants dressed as vikings, characters from Alice and Wonderland and superheroes. There were plenty in festive dress and a Camel who had made an apperance at a previous event.
Dippers raised money for charities and other good causes.
Miss Alice took part in the dip and raised money for the RNLI.
