AN UPMARKET wine bar has unexpectedly closed its doors  - just three years after opening. 

Sheldon's, which was located on Penrhyn Road in Colwyn Bay, opened on Friday, November 2 2018. About 20 jobs were created.

Sadly the building is now on the market with St David's Commercial for £189,950 (freehold); A sign has been placed in the window.

According to Companies House, the business [Sheldons Bar Limited] has gone into liquidation. Parkin S Booth Ltd: Insolvency Practitioners in Liverpool have been appointed as liquidator.

A description into the retail premise on the St David's Commerical wesbite says: "Undoubtedly one of the finest looking wine bars/cafes available.

"Ground floor extending to some 194m2, 2112 square feet in total with fitted bar, kitchen, ladies/gents wc, rear access with roller shutter doors.

"We are selling the building only freehold, there are no accounts with the business, as the last occupier was a tenant."

Kate and Julian Roberts and Lorna and Jonathan Hughes founded the bar.

The long-standing friends, all aged in their 40s wanted to create an 'upmarket' wine, cocktail and craft beer bar to reflect the change the town was experiencing.

According to Companies House, Lorna and Jonathan resigned as directors in July 2020.

On Monday, October 1, Sheldon's posted on their Facebook page: "Quick announcement! We’ll be closed for a bit of a paint and polish refurb during October. Don’t worry, we’ll be back shortly! For any party bookings etc. for November onwards, just send us a message through Facebook. See you soon xxx"
