CROWDS gathered to celebrate the opening of The Range on Parc Llandudno.
First in the queue, on Friday, December 9, ahead of the ribbon cutting at 9am, was Darren Jones, of Deganwy, who arrived outside the new store at 8.20am. Asked why he'd come down early, Mr Jones said: "I've come to buy an air fryer."
The retailer, which sells products in the home, garden and leisure categories, has move into the unit previously occupied by Outfit.
A total of 40 full and part-time jobs have been created.
Cllr Carol Marubbi, mayor of Llandudno, who was at the opening, told coastal chief reporter Suzanne Kendrick: "
"It is a wonderful thing they are bringing a business into Llandudno. We desperately need new businesses, and this has got to be a good thing especially for local people to give them local jobs as well which is imperative."
This store has been in the pipeline for many months.
Alex Simpkin, CEO at The Range, said on the day of the opening: "There was one queue outside and because it has been really cold, we've seen a load of people sat in their cars to keep warm but those outside I think they were delighted when we finally cut the ribbon and actually it has been great opening and it looks like everyone is having great fun today."
When asked how pleased The Range was to open in Llandudno, Pauline Jones, area manager for North Wales, responded: "We are so excited to be working with the local community. We think it is going to be a fantastic store and a great addition to the local area."
Mr Simpkin added: "We have got stores in Wales that generally and they do very well, the community enjoys having a Range around and this was a place where we needed to get more presence."
Retail billionaire Chris Dawson, founder and owner of The Range discount store chain, attended the opening.
