POPULAR gift shop the Calendar Club has moved into the old Marks and Spencer in Llandudno ahead of the festive season. 

Calendar Club, which has taken up part of the old unit on 61 Mostyn Street and has been approached for comment, specialises in retailing calendars, diaries, planners and gifts during the busy Christmas shopping season.

Shops and units pop up across the UK and Ireland usually between the end of September and stay in place until mid-January. 

In previous years Calendar Club have taken up an empty unit in the Victoria Shopping Centre. 

Earlier this year Marks and Spencer Llandudno opened a brand new store at a unit previously occupied by Denbenhams on Parc Llandudno.

The former Marks and Spencer closed after 80 years in the heart of the town. 

Earlier this year, fast-growing Welsh developer, Knightsbridge House Estates, part of Bearmont Group and owned by husband and wife duo, Rob and Maria Lloyd, completed on the former satellite store.

The former Marks and Spencer men's and children's store, which was located a few doors down, is set to become a Poundland store; Poundland signage has been placed in the windows.

The satellite store has remained empty since the closure in February 2018. A bid was previously made by restauranteurs Loungers but fell through.

Rob Lloyd, of Bearmont Group, said: “We are thrilled to have acquired this large former M&S department store in an off-market deal in a prime location in the heart of Llandudno. We are constantly identifying commercial opportunities that require regeneration, and are excited to provide vibrant new retail for the local community across two floors of trading.

"As a top tourist destination, Llandudno must keep up with the times, and we’re grateful to support this through our regeneration efforts.”

Estimated to be completed by the end of 2022, 55 Mostyn Street will be transformed into modern retail premises.

Work at 55 Mostyn Street is estimated to be completed by the end of 2022.

The four-floor, 19,944 square foot building will be rented as a whole, however, Rob is keeping news of the new tenants quiet.
