FIREWORKS will be lighting up the skies above Llandudno this October.
This year's annual firework display will take place at Llandudno North Shore Beach on Thursday, October 27 at 7.30pm. Should adverse weather conditions prevent the display from going ahead, then the crowd-pleaser will be held the night after, on Friday, October 28.
A spokesperson from Llandudno Town Council said: "These dates are the only ones that fit in with tidal times and ranges that allow sufficient time to safely set up, hold the display, and then remove all the equipment necessary to fire the display."
Cllr Angie O’Grady, chair of the Fireworks Sub Committee, said: "We would like to thank Llandudno Pier for again offering to provide all the machinery and manpower needed to ensure the display is able to be ‘fired’ safely from the beach, and Conwy County Borough Council. This major event couldn’t proceed without their support.
"Following on from the huge success of 2021’s fireworks, another stunning display is anticipated”.
Thousands of visitors decended on Llandudno last year for dazzling firework display, which was held in November.
The spokesperson for Llandudno Town Council added: "The success of this event is fantastic for residents, visitors, the local economy and for Llandudno’s standing as a premier tourist destination. Putting on what many consider to be one of the best fireworks displays in North Wales is, however, not without its challenges.
"To ensure the continued safe operation of this major event, discussions are ongoing between the Town Council and Conwy County Borough Council.
"A road closure will again be in place for the Promenade Road from 12pm until 9pm. The council apologises in advance for any disruption this may cause and asks the public to please understand that this road closure is required to ensure they can enjoy another great display in a safe environment."
There will be collectors on the night asking for donations; all money raised will go towards the cost of the display.
Llandudno Town Council has organised the display since its inception back in 1976.
In 2020, the annual spectacular was cancelled due to Covid-19.
