A GROUP of friends have raised £970 for St David’s Hospice by walking up Snowdon.
Jenny Hudson, a care assistant at St David’s Hospice in Llandudno, was joined by several close friends to raise money for the hospice, which cared for her late grandmother towards the end of her life.
Jenny’s ‘beloved’ grandmother Judith battled terminal brain and lung cancer for a long time and was later given care from the hospice at home team, before spending her last 24 hours at the Hospice’s inpatient unit.
Judith died on September 1, and Jenny decided to repay their kindness and raise money.
“She received nothing but exceptional care and support right up to her final moments with us,” said Jenny.
“I will forever be grateful to them for everything - they are an amazing establishment and all charity funded.”
The group climbed Snowdon via Crib Goch, a knife edge ridge that reaches heights of 3,028ft (923m).
Jenny said the climb was “very challenging”, adding: “It was a great day - I had wobbly legs a couple of times as Crib Goch is pretty steep.
“It was originally going to be cancelled and we were going to attempt the Pyg track instead due to high winds, but we decided to go ahead when we got there.
“I’m so happy we did – it’s not an experience I will forget any time soon.”
