A GOALKEEPER from Colwyn Bay aged 10 marked an impressive derby victory for his team on Sunday (October 9) by scoring from his own penalty box.
Corey Smyth scored what was, unsurprisingly, his first goal in Mochdre Dragons’ under-11s’ 6-3 victory against Mochdre Devils, lobbing the ball over the head of his opposite number.

It was also a touching way to celebrate the birthday of his father, Chris, who is also his team’s coach.
Corey’s uncle and Chris’ brother, Dylan, spoke of his pride in his nephew.

Dylan said: “I live in Oxfordshire, but my brother just happened to send me the video and I thought it was amazing.
“He loves playing football; that’s why his dad’s taken over as the coach, to try and keep him involved in it as much as possible.
“Corey called me on Sunday, literally straight after the game, to tell me about it – he was buzzing.
“Obviously, as a goalkeeper, he doesn’t often get the opportunity to even take a chance, never mind to shoot from his own box!”
