THE Cineworld cinema in Llandudno Junction is to close for Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral on Monday (September 19).

But Theatr Colwyn, in Colwyn Bay, will be screening the funeral.

Venue Cymru in Llandudno will also be closed on Monday, as will all other Conwy County Borough Council premises.

The day has been declared a bank holiday by King Charles III.

The Queen died aged 96 on Thursday, September 8 after 70 years on the throne; the longest-reigning morning in British history.

Her state funeral will take place at Westminster Abbey on Monday at 11am, after which her coffin will be taken to St George’s Chapel, Windsor for a committal service.

A Cineworld statement said: “Out of respect to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, and the Royal Family, all of our UK cinemas will be closed on Monday September 19, the day of the state funeral.

"Those who have made bookings for this day will be contacted shortly.”
