A vlogger's tour of Llandudno’s worst-rated hotel has revealed some shocking issues other visitors may encounter during their stay there.
Excessive noise, general uncleanliness, "creaky" floors, damp walls and ‘grotty’ bathrooms are just some of the reasons the Grand Hotel on Llandudno Pier is “not so grand anymore”, according to YouTuber Walk With Me Tim.
The tourism vlogger stayed the night there earlier this month, and was given a room in the corner of the hotel.
Upon entry to the room, Tim immediately notices a “damp, stale smell” and a water pipe going through the room, which creates plenty of noise throughout his stay.
The vlogger describes the walls of his room as “dirty, grubby”, and speculated that one of the pillows in his room hadn’t been cleaned since it was last used.
Despite the issues with his “depressing” room, Tim does comment on the stunning views the hotel offers of the Great Orme, sea and Llandudno, before adding “if you can see it that is because the windows are pretty grim".
He continues through the hotel and is impressed by areas such as the dining room and reception area, a reminder of what the hotel once was.
In a review at the end, Tim says: "This hotel is in an amazing location. Walking around the hotel, I agree with the comments on Tripadvisor that it feels really dirty and grimy. Let's start with my room, this is a single room - it's not one of the premier rooms, which I'm sure are very nice and overlook the sea - and it cost £72 for the night.
"Bearing in mind this is August, that's not bad. What was bad were the stains all over the wall. The bed was actually comfortable but the curtains had rust on them, the bathroom was a little bit grotty in places. The room also has a lot of pipework running through it and I could constantly hear water.
"This hotel, you can tell, was really nice back in the day. I don't get why they don't clean the windows, it's pretty disgusting to say the least. And what was with all the laundry carts in the hallways? They could've at least put them away.
