A MAN from Colwyn Bay is to complete unpaid work after he pleaded guilty to two counts of fraud with the intention of making a combined total of more than £5,000 for himself.
David Hughes, 34, of Abergele Road, was accused of using the website “Gumtree” to tell Adrian Cullinan that he would sell him a tractor on August 19, 2020, and Christopher Lee that he would sell him a Ford Escort RS vehicle on September 5, 2020.
Hughes had no intention of selling either vehicle, and intended to make gains of £2,400 for the tractor, and £2,750 for the Ford Escort RS, making a total profit of £5,150.
He pleaded guilty to both offences at Llandudno Magistrates’ Court on August 10.

The court ordered him to complete 120 hours of unpaid work, and a maximum of 15 days’ rehabilitation activity.
Hughes is also to pay £624 in compensation.
He will complete this payment in weekly instalments of £10 from September 9.
The compensation penalty was reduced due to Hughes’ limited means on Universal Credit.
