A WOMAN was banned from drinking alcohol for 120 days yesterday (August 1) and must wear a monitoring bracelet after being caught more than three times the drink-drive limit.

Lisa Covell, 50, of Trem-y-Castell, Towyn, had lost her job because of the offence, and a district judge at Llandudno court imposed a three-year driving ban.

A twelve-month community order was made, with a rehabilitation activity and alcohol abstinence monitoring.

Covell has to pay £199 in costs.

She admitted driving a car with a breath-alcohol count of 115, on Upper Denbigh Road, St Asaph, after being pulled over by police on July 15.

The legal limit is 35.

The probation service said she was very remorseful.

Covell supported vulnerable people with mental health problems but had been attacked at work and a road accident also affected her health.

According to a probation officer, the defendant said she rarely drank but she had drunk from a bottle of vodka while emotional about an issue in her personal life.
