COLWYN Bay tennis player Viktor Frydrych has been selected to play for Great Britain in this year’s Summer Cup, organised by Tennis Europe and taking place across the continent.
Frydrych will take part in the under-16s Boys’ event, joining Welsh players Niall Pickerd-Barua (under-12 Boys’) and Mimi Xu (under-16 Girls’) in the competition.
Frydrych recently competed in the Boys’ Singles at Wimbledon, exiting in the first round.
Tennis Wales Head of Performance, Chris Lewis, said: “To have three players selected to represent GB is fantastic news.
“This demonstrates the great strides forwards we a making in Welsh tennis and the future looks incredibly exciting.”
Qualifying for the under-12s takes place from July 21-24, and July 27-29 for the under-16s.
The Under-16 competitions also act as qualifiers in Europe for the Junior Billie Jean King Cup and Junior Davis Cup, presented by BNP Paribas.
