North Wales Motor Company
We opened as North Wales Honda in 2012, located at Mostyn Broadway in Llandudno, but now the business has grown and our team has relocated across the road to Parc Llandudno to incorporate KIA into our growing portfolio.
We are still the same ambitious and enthusiastic family that moved to Llandudno 10 years ago. The big difference is that we now have a senior management team that have grown up with the business, who share our values and vision.
The business took on the Honda franchise when Honda products in Europe were being pensioned off, and new technologies were being proven and model line ups dramatically changed. We now have the launch of multiple new Honda products over the next 18 months that will bring the car showroom display up to 9 different models.
We added the KIA brand during Covid to add an extra dimension to the business, giving customers a broader choice of products to choose from. This prompted our name change to North Wales Motor Company to act as an umbrella for the different brands.
The KIA range of cars is growing rapidly, with 15 variants of the core range available today and more new cars coming in the next 18 months. This gave us a great opportunity to branch out and acquire the former Peugeot site on Argyll Road, and use this location as a launch pad for a bigger and more efficient business model, that will make the business not only sustainable, but also exciting for our customers.
In 2021, we set about a total refurbishment of the workshop on Argyll Road, literally working from the ground up with a new floor, complete redecorate and a new roof where needed. We have added new ramps, tools, a refurbished body shop and included Electric Charging points for the growing use of EVs in Llandudno.
In 2022, we are tiling the entire showroom floor to the very highest standards and fitting an interactive car configurator, to go with the new furniture and customer waiting areas, and let’s not miss out the new bean to cup coffee machine!
In 2023, we will separate the two brands and move KIA into a new showroom opposite Marks and Spencer, and Honda will stand alone in the location it is now in today. This will create more parking space for our customers, both for sales and aftersales.
We are very proud that we are now a major employer of highly skilled staff and our economic footprint contributes to the town we live in. The staff have multiple opportunities working in offshoots from the parent company with the entertainment business and the rally team. We also enjoy working with the local business community and sponsor multiple events, clubs and charities.
This year, we will also give out awards to staff that have been with us for 10 years and I am delighted to say that it is a lot of awards! For the future, we continue to strive to be the best car retailer in North Wales with a broad offering of new and used cars and the best MOT and service operation.
A big thank you to our fantastic customers for all their support, and our great TEAM of staff. Here’s to the next 10 years.
