A CONWY vineyard hosted famous TV wine expert Oz Clarke for a day after winning awards for their fine wine production.
Gwinllan Conwy Vineyard, based in Llangwstenin, Llandudno Junction, had been awarded two silver medals and a bronze at the previous week’s prestigious WineGB awards, where Mr Clarke had been the chair judge.
The TV star is known for the 1980s BBC Food and Drink, which he presented with Jilly Goolden, and Oz and James's Big Wine Adventure, where he collaborated with Top Gear’s James May.
Vineyard owner Colin Bennett, who runs the vineyard with wife Charlotte, called Mr Clarke his “wine hero for thirty years”, and added: “Nobody comes close to projecting the love of wine on national media!
“I cannot tell you how honoured we were last week to host a full day with Oz at the vineyard.

“Charming, witty, and humble – Oz eulogised on the wines, Charlotte’s amazing food and the vineyard experience.
Now, not in a blind tasting, he was able to enjoy and reconnect with the wines.”
The vineyard’s wines have been selected for presentation day of the awards in London, set to be held this week.
“Mr Bennett added: “Sadly, we will be on holiday, but I can rely on our newfound fan to introduce them to the wine elite!

“Thanks to Sonder Radio, and looking forward to an episode of Like A Fine Wine due for broadcast across multiple stations UK-wide in September.”
Gwinllan Conwy Vineyard was first planted in 2012, and has grown each year to more than an acre with a thousand vines.
The special hybrid grape varieties are chosen specifically to work well with the soil and climatic conditions in North Wales, and the vineyard is blessed with a stunning backdrop of the Snowdonia Mountain Range.
