A Llandudno car showroom could be converted into a trendy gym complete with saunas and a smoothie bar.
Kinmel Bay-based Lvl5 Gyms has applied to Conwy County Council’s planning department to convert the Honda car showroom on Mostyn Broadway into the new gym.
If given the go-ahead, the gym will feature fitness and spin equipment, a sauna area and consultation zones.
The applicant also says the gym will offer app-based connectivity to members and a dedicated smoothie shop offering refreshments to visitors.

The application also states that the new gym will feature ‘fixtures and fittings appealing to a clientele not provided elsewhere in the county’.
The application says the gym will fit in well in an area dominated by leisure, as the swimming pool, theatre, nightclub and sailing club are all nearby.
The applicant says parking will be provided onsite whilst the premises is also close to public transport links.

The building itself is not listed but is located within the Llandudno Seafront and Town Centre Conversation Area.
Conwy’s conservation officer Gareth Roberts said the current signage at the car showroom was excessive and believed the gym offered an opportunity for more appropriate signs to be installed.
“I have no objection in principle to the proposed change of use,” he said.
“The building is a late twentieth-century car showroom which offers no architectural or historical merit.
“The planning supporting statement states that there will be no external changes associated with this scheme. The existing signage is excessive, and this could be an opportunity to improve the signage and external appearance of the building.”

The application will now be debated by Conwy’s planning committee at a future meeting before a decision is reached.
