RYDAL Penrhos have completed a significant renovation by revamping a hall named after one of the school’s founding fathers.

After months of hard work, the newly-named Osborn Hall – a Grade II listed building on site – is ready to benefit current pupils, alumni, and the wider community.

The Osborn Hall will serve as the base for pupils in Years 12-13 during term time to study outside of typical classroom lessons.

The Osborn Hall is a Grade II listed building with beautiful wood panelling, parquet floors and stained-glass windows, and so reviving it to its former beauty is felt by the school to be its duty and honour

When pupils are not using the site, the school will make the Osborn Hall available to hire for weddings, functions and other events.

This is the latest in a series of substantial investments made by Rydal Penrhos in recent years as part of the school’s ongoing strategic development plan.

John Waszek, Executive Principal of Rydal Penrhos, said: “Recognising the importance of the school’s foundation and making it fit in with the current direction of Rydal Penrhos is of paramount importance.

“This comes with a comprehensive curriculum and prepares each pupil for the challenges that lie ahead when they move on to higher education and the working world.

“Used in past lives as the chapel, the Dining Hall and Learning Resource Centre/Library, the Osborn Hall is the very heart of the school, the jewel in our crown.

“Now restored to its former beauty and grandeur it offers a substantial learning space and will play a leading part in major gatherings, alongside the Memorial Hall.”

The facility is now named after Thomas Osborn, one of the school’s founders.
