A MAN who was found guilty of drink-driving in Colwyn Bay has been banned from the roads and ordered to pay in excess of £450.

Christopher Beard, 31, of Gidlow Lane, Wigan, was accused of driving a yellow and green Ford van on Queen’s Drive on November 24, 2021 with 45 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.

The legal limit in Wales is 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.

Mr Beard pleaded guilty at Llandudno Magistrates’ Court on June 15.

He was banned from driving for 40 months and fined £350.

In addition, he must pay £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service, and a £35 victim surcharge.

This amounted to a total of £470, to be paid in weekly instalments of £25 from July 15.

A second offence of driving on Queen’s Drive the following day with 61 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath was withdrawn.
