A DEBUTING artist from Colwyn Bay has been praised by the founder of an influential online independent music distributor.
Finn Ambers, who has just released huis debut song ‘A Part Of Me’, originally heard CD Baby founder Derek Sivers speaking on a podcast and decided to get in touch with him ahead of the song’s release.
CD Baby was founded in 1997, after requests from other independent musicians for Mr Sivers to sell their CDs on his website, going on to become the largest seller of independent music on the web, with more than $100million in sales for more than 150,000 musician clients.
“I didn’t think I’d get a response, but Derek actually took the time to look at my website and compliment my endeavours, which is fantastic,” said Mr Ambers.
“When my song came out, I thought I’d contact Derek again and within a couple of days he emailed me saying ‘Cool! Listening in the background as I type. Love it…’.
“This really made my day. I’ve put a lot of effort into getting the track out there. Getting praise for the end result from an influencer such as Derek means a great deal to me.”
‘A Part Of Me’ was released on May 27, and is a ballad-duet which tells a tale of love, loss and hope for the future.
The song was written, composed, arranged, mixed, mastered and produced by Mr Ambers himself.

“My hope is that those who hear the song will be moved.
It’s an emotive ballad-duet with a message to those folks who are leaving and those folks who will be left behind – I hope they find some comfort in listening to it.”
The Colwyn Bay-based musician lives with his partner and two young children, with this locality inspiring him to finish producing the song and launch a career as a full-time independent creative.
