POLICE have now arrested several people in connection with a suspected arson attack at Colwyn Bay Cricket Club.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday (May 20) and saw a joint fire service and police investigation launched into the matter - which saw a building at the club gutted by the blaze.
On Friday, North Wales Police said it had arrested three people in connection with the fire - which is thought to have been started deliberately.
And on Sunday, the force issued an update to say "several" people have now been arrested in connection with it.
Police have said that a fire at a nearby Co-op store was not started deliberately, and are urging residents not to spread rumours of arson attacks.
A spokesperson said: "We are however concerned that residents locally are making an assumption that a fire at the Co-Op store on Penrhyn Ave is also linked as a criminal act of arson.
"This is not the case and we can confirm that this fire was as a result of an accidental ignition from within the shop and is not a deliberate fire.
"The two fires are not connected and we would be grateful if rumours to the contrary were not perpetuated."
