A BRAND NEW, state-of-the-art air source heat pump showroom has opened just outside Rhyl, in a landmark moment on the journey to net zero in North Wales.
The Daikin Sustainable Home Centre has been launched by Thorncliffe Building Supplies, one of the largest independent builders’ merchants in North Wales and the North West of England, together with world-leading heat pump manufacturer, Daikin.
The centre is the first of its kind in the region, representing a bold move in the push to achieve net zero.
Visitors to the new centre, on Meliden Road in Dyserth, can familiarise themselves with air source heat pump technology and sit down with an expert to discuss and agree the best solution for heating and cooling their home, before being partnered with a trusted local installer.
And as well as providing a hub for homeowners, the Daikin Sustainable Home Centre will house a heat pump training centre to help the region’s plumbing and heating installers diversify into renewable heating solutions and ensure the long-term competitiveness of their businesses, as fossil fuel boilers are phased out.
The opening was attended by Dr James Davies, MP for the Vale of Clwyd.

Tim Harper, Managing Director at Thorncliffe Building Supplies, commented: “This is a big milestone for us – and it’s just the beginning of our exciting next chapter.
“We’re already planning to open a second showroom at our Ewloe branch, such is the demand for renewable heating solutions in North Wales and over the English border.
“We’ve always had great relationships with local tradespeople, and with our new training facility, we can help them capitalise on this demand as well.
“And our new showroom means we can offer homeowners a great experience as they too start their sustainable heating journey.
“Alongside our Daikin heat pump range, we’re displaying our complete bathroom offering and a range of sustainable biomass stoves.”
Iain Bevan, Commercial Manager for Heating & Renewables at Daikin UK, added: “It’s important that homeowners who want to go green can find the best solution for their household’s heating and hot water needs.

“Being able to explore and discuss heat pump technology in person is vital, as is knowing that it will be installed by a highly trained professional.
“We’ve enjoyed getting to know the team at Thorncliffe Building Supplies over the past 12 months, and we’re delighted that their Daikin Sustainable Home Centre is now open.
“We’re confident that together, we can make a significant contribution towards our national net zero targets.”
