POLICE have issued a reminder to parents to park safely at a primary school in Colwyn Bay after concerns were raised prior to the Easter holidays.
Officers visited Ysgol Pen-Y-Bryn, on Wentworth Avenue, after the school made them aware of issues regarding parking on double-yellow or zig-zag lines, or double-parking.
North Wales Police (NWP) have stressed to parents that parking on zigzags will earn them points on their driving record, adding: “don’t let our next social media release be a witness appeal for a road related incident outside of a school”.

NWP West Conwy Coastal said: “Prior to the Easter half-term, local officers have attended Ysgol Pen-Y-Bryn in Colwyn Heights after having concerns raised by the school in relation to persons parking, dropping off and collecting children.
“Whilst we are aware that this is not only a problem at Ysgol Pen-Y-Bryn but unfortunately most schools, can we take this time to remind parents to park safely and correctly whilst attending at these locations.
“Please can we stress the importance of parking correctly and safely, not double-parking, parking on double yellow lines, or zig zags.
“When we attended, it was evident of the problems that had been occurring, and a couple of drivers had been spoken with and advised accordingly.
“It is worth noting that parking on zigzags, whether they are on the side of a main road or outside of a school will land you points on your driving licence. There is no pick up or drop off time allowed.
“If we all work together and take a little more time planning our journeys, considering where is safe to park, we can help resolve these issues.
“We will continue to work with local schools, partner agencies and when available, show a presence at these locations.
“Please don’t let our next social media release be a witness appeal for a road related incident outside of a school.”
