COLWYN Bay FC’s Academy will be hosting open trials on May 9 and 11, as they look to recruit fresh talent ahead of the 2022-23 season.
Players of all age groups are invited to apply, regardless of ability and previous playing experience.
The trials will be held on the 4G pitch at Eirias Park, Colwyn Bay, with Under-8 to Under-11 from 6-7pm, and Under-12 to Under-19 from 7-8pm, on both days.
Commenting on the progress that has been made by the Academy over the last two years, Academy Director Matt Sampson said: “The new culture and structure that we have implemented at Colwyn Bay FC Academy has seen the increase in competitiveness, experiences and exposure to top class Academy training sessions across all age groups.

“This has come in the form of some of our Academy teams playing against Premier League and Professional Academies and has seen a huge increase of players being invited into the FAW Regional squads, as well as Premier League and other professional Academies across all age ranges.
“The increase of player movement through all age groups to assist with individual player development, includes our Under-19s being involved within the First Team environment on a regular basis.
“Implementation of ‘The Bay Way’ was always going to come with challenges with the COVID pandemic, but we, internally and externally, can genuinely see the progress we have made and feel the foundations have firmly been laid for us to push forwards and continue building by providing even more experiences and opportunities for all our Academy players.
“That is evident not just in the Academy, but throughout the club, and the integration can be seen with our Player Passes which allows all Academy Players plus one adult, to attend all first team home games for free.”
The Football Association of Wales’ COMET registration date, the date by which teams must register players ahead of the new season, set for June 1, Colwyn Bay FC Academy are hopeful of signing all current and prospective new players by that date.
For those interested in lacing up their boots, a trial registration form must be filled in on the Colwyn Bay FC website.
All players are instructed to wear moulded footwear (suited to 4G), their own kit, and bring their own water to the sessions.
