BETSI Cadwaladr University Health Board’s plan for greater treatment of urgent dental cases has been praised by the Aberconwy MS.
The Health Board have commissioned 35 in-hours sessions and six out-of-hours sessions each week for urgent dental cases, which will continue until at least 2023.
With plans to establish a North Wales Dental Academy in Bangor, the greater efforts made for those with urgent dental needs has delighted Aberconwy MS Janet Finch-Saunders.

Mrs Finch-Saunders added: “I have been approached by numerous constituents who have highlighted the difficulties they face in receiving regular dental care.
“Today’s news from Betsi Cadwaladr is reassuring for those in desperate need of treatment.
“In addition to the opening of the North Wales Dental Academy, this should hopefully start to alleviate the growing backlog of NHS dental appointments across the region.
“While I warmly welcome this news, further work must be done to continue to support dentistry across North Wales, to meet the demand for services.
“I strongly believe that this must be done through a multi-pronged approach, including working directly with BCUHB, private dental practices and in enhancing the area’s attractiveness to recruit and retain dental clinicians.”
