A CONWY photography exhibition has drawn attention from around the world in its depiction of the rural beauty of the county.

The activity was part of a Dyffryn Dyfodol project which is looking at different ways of working with communities in rural Conwy to make positive changes,

People were invited to submit one image of a place that was important to them in rural Conwy, yet the reception the competition received worldwide was surprising.

Reflections of feelings induced by the photos have been coming in from countries such as Croatia, Finland, the Philippines and Ukraine.

Among those to get in touch was Yan, a Ukrainian who escaped the bombings in Kharkiv, fled to Lviv, and then moved to Cherkasy in Central Ukraine as the war rages on in the country.

Yan said: “Very beautiful photos from which breathes peace and tranquillity.

“I want to get into them and calm down, relax and forget.

“I, as a resident of Ukraine, can only dream of this.”

Gareth Hughes, one of the photographers, said: “I enjoyed thinking about the challenge of submitting just one image of rural Conwy that is important to me.

“I just think it's remarkable that under the circumstances the Ukrainian resident has managed to write a message about the images.”

Dyffryn Dyfodol is a partnership between Ffiwsar, a creative production organisation based in Llanrwst, Natural Resources Wales, and Cartrefi Conwy, who are collaborating with other organisations and projects in the focus area of the River Conwy catchment.

The project is also part-funded by Arts Council for Wales.

The images can be seen in an online photo exhibition homepage.
