THE Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza and Transport Festival are set to return to the town during the bank holiday weekend from April 30 – May 2.
Nearing its 30th anniversary, the Llandudno Transport Festival is a three-day event which will be held at Bodafon Fields, with a wide array of exhibitions including of lorries, tractors and motorbikes for visitors to sink their teeth into.
The Victorian Extravaganza, which will takes over the town’s main streets simultaneously, includes street entertainers, stalls, full-size live steam traction engines, shop window displays and much more.
The two events will be connected via a free “hop on, hop off” bus service between the pair of them throughout the weekend.
A free shuttle bus will pick up and drop off from Vaughan Street, Llandudno.
The Victorian Extravaganza, which has been established for 35 years, did not take place in 2020 or 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The organisers did, though, hold a successful “Christmas Extravaganza” in the town last November.
More of what to expect from the Victorian Extravaganza:
• Competitions for window dressing, Victorian dresses and best-dressed stall.
• A parade at 12pm on each day of the event - all traction engines, vintage vehicles, Victorian dressers and entertainers take part in the parade.
• Mario Morris’ award-winning outdoor magic comedy show (each day of the event outside Llandudno Library, Mostyn Street at 11am, 1.30pm and 3.30pm).
• Lady Vee, an expert in balloon twisting (each day of the event outside Llandudno Library, Mostyn Street at 11.30am, 2.30pm and 4pm).
• The Cambria Band (performing in the daily parade at 12pm, and in the main arena by the main stage on St George's Place at 2.45pm, each day of the event).
• Vintage and modern static attractions, including the Llandudno Pier Ferris wheel.
• Stall holders from businesses such as Mr Churros, Upper Crust, Thu’s Kitchen, Ridiculously Rich by Alana, The Magical Gift Company, St David’s Hospice, Tammy’s Face Painting, and many more.

At the Transport Festival, the gates open each day at 9am until late on Saturday and Sunday, and until 5pm on Monday, with the bus service running all day from 10am.
Organiser Jim Ricketts added: “2022 hopes to have a special visit from a group of well-known TV celebrities and their vehicles.
“On the Saturday (April 30), at 5.30-6pm, a cavalcade of exhibits, from vintage motorcycles to the heaviest heavy haulage truck used on our roads today, leave the showground to go via a heavily marshalled route to and around Conwy, through the town’s tight arches, then back to the fields, presenting ideal photographic opportunities of some really nice exhibits in motion.
“On the Sunday evening, the exhibitors again leave the show ground around the wonderful seaside town of Llandudno to ascend Marine Drive; the home of the town’s Kashmir goats; the Llandudno Great Orme again presenting a wonderful setting for some wonderful photography
“Both runs are subject to weather conditions over the weekend.”

The Victoria Extravaganza is free to attend, while admission to the Transport Festival costs £7.50 for adults, £2 for children, and £2.50 for car parking.
