THE BODY of an Old Colwyn man who had been reported missing was found on a quarry ledge, it was revealed at the opening of an inquest.
When support worker Patrick Cahill, 53, was reported missing from his home in Cae Glas on March 14 it triggered a widespread search involving a police helicopter and a NE Wales Search and Rescue (NEWSAR) team with dogs.
The following day he was found on a ledge at Llysfaen quarry, having fallen “a significant distance”, according to the assistant coroner for North Wales East and Central, Kate Sutherland.
Dr Mark Atkinson, who carried out a post-mortem examination, gave a provisional cause of death as “multiple injuries”.
After a brief hearing in Ruthin the inquest was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
