VOLUNTEERS at St Joseph's Catholic Primary School in Colwyn Bay have put their baking skills to the test, raising a lot of “dough” for the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.

The all-day cake sale on Friday (March 25) raised £720 and brought dozens of generous community members to the parish centre on Brackley Avenue, which was bedecked with Ukrainian flags and sunflowers created by the children of the school.

The school also welcomed Darren Millar, Clwyd West MS, during the cake sale, while donations were made to Cafod, the Catholic aid agency which is part of the DEC appeal.

"We were overwhelmed by the generosity of so many bakers and cake lovers," said St Joseph's headteacher James Wilkinson.

"We were especially delighted to welcome not just our wonderful school parents, but folks from the local church community and neighbourhood residents.

“We'd also like to thank Morrisons and Cotteswold Dairy for their contributions."
