A MEMBER of North Wales Road Runners Club is appealing for any unwanted sports items for use by underprivileged young athletes in Gambia.
Steve Forsyth, who recently visited relatives of his in Gambia is urgently trying to fill a load of equipment, including trainers, running t-shirts, vests, socks, shorts, unused gels, gloves, hats, and scarfs.
He aims to send them out to Gambia as soon as possible, and especially in time for potential participants in the Banjul marathon on March 27.

He said: “Wanted please, your unwanted, or no longer used, men’s and women’s trainers, together with any other unwanted sports gear.
‘I am sending them to Gambia for people who can’t afford trainers.
“I am happy to collect from any corner of the UK, and note that we already have received some serious shoes including Saucony racing flats, to Nike racers.”
Steve is also hoping that some sort of association may be developed in time with The Gambia Police running team, together with any potential twinning arrangements, or a possible exchange deal for young athletes.
Anyone with suitable items, can bring them to the Conwy parkrun on either of the next two Saturday mornings (March 19 and 26).
It starts from the Conwy RSPB nature reserve, and can be left from 8.15-10am.
