MARKS and Spencer has confirmed its new store on a Llandudno retail park will open on Wednesday, March 16.
Located in the Parc Llandudno retail park, at the unit previously occupied by Debenhams, the store is the first of its kind in Wales, with a fresh-market-style “Foodhall” full of modern and sustainable features.
The store will be led by manager, Katie Whelan, along with all 114 staff who have transferred from the previous M&S Llandudno store on Mostyn Street.
There are also 46 new faces at the store, which will be open from Monday to Saturday, 8am until 8pm, and on Sunday from 11am to 5pm (browse time from 10.30am).
The Maelgwn Male Voice Choir and San Sior School Choir will perform at the store’s opening, while the town’s Miss Alice and the Wonderland will also be in attendance, as well as a harpist from Ysgol Creuddyn serenading customers as they shop.
Exciting features at the Foodhall include a 4ft cheese barge, a “pick your own eggs” section, “Scan & Shop”, and a 119-seat digital café where customers can order from the new “Grab and Go” touch screens whilst enjoying barista-made drinks.
Meanwhile, the spacious clothing and home department offers womenswear favourites including Per Una and M&S’ popular activewear collection, Goodmove.
Store manager Katie Whelan said: “My team and I are really excited to welcome the local community to our new Llandudno store.
“With a cheese barge, a digital café, and an exciting opening day to look forward to, we feel very lucky to be part of the new development.
“As the first store of its kind in Wales, we also take pride in leading the way to make shopping more enjoyable and convenient.”
