“CONTAINING Safety” is the new short film project from Old Colwyn-based TAPE Community Music and Film, working in association with Hijinx - another award-winning charity.
This important work has created much-needed creative, social and professional opportunities, both on-screen and behind the scenes.
The film tells the story of Wayne, a man who requires support for most things in his life and communicates without speech.
On one of his regular visits to a snooker club, Wayne sits and watches his two support workers play snooker – again – because “he likes it”.
This time, though, Wayne is befriended by a lone player, practicing on another table, and unbeknown to his support workers, Wayne is witnessing something special…
Wayne will be played by an actor who shares the character’s support needs, along with a range of opportunities amongst the remaining cast and crew for people linked to both TAPE and Hijinx.
Former world snooker champion, Dennis Taylor, plays himself in the film and said: "I am delighted to have taken part in this short film with TAPE.
“Having read the script, I was impressed by the way in which the story used a simple visit to a snooker hall to present important messages about how people are supported.”

The aim of the film is to tell an important story and create quality new work which can also serve as a resource for discussion around the themes within the film.
The short film is set to premiere at Theatre Colwyn in Colwyn Bay at 2pm on Thursday, March 10, and the screening will include a Q&A with the cast and crew.
The film has been given a “U” certificate by Conwy County Borough Council and the premiere is free to attend.
