A POPULAR workshop capable of providing  repairs to people's prized possessions returns to Conwy this Sunday.

Repair Café Conwy at St Mary’s Church Hall is run by volunteers, who are skilled at a variety of repairs, aim to help members of the public avoid buying replacement items by preserving existing, sometimes classic items.

While many items are fixed during the event, more challenging items people might be referred to local speciality repair shops or asked to bring in a needed tool or replacement.

North Wales Pioneer:

The volunteers are not necessarily tradespeople but they are tinkerers - people who love to work with objects that help cultivate the “culture of repair”.

Repair Café Conwy spokesperson Karin Bruns said: “The variety of items brought in for repair never ceases to amaze and the talents and skills of our volunteers in repairing those items is awe inspiring.

“They are always up for a challenge and some items really are a challenge.”

Held on the second Sunday of each month, this month’s edition will have a leather and a weaver specialist, for an event that admirably resists the more throwaway culture of today.
