THE Shannon class boat, William F Yates, at Llandudno’s Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) base, has raised crew spirits with a return to station and active duty.
The Shannon is the latest class of all-weather lifeboat to join the RNLI fleet.
She is the first modern all-weather lifeboat to be propelled by waterjets instead of traditional propellers, making her the station’s most agile and manoeuvrable all-weather lifeboat yet.
Luke Heritage, mechanic at the station, said: “It's nice to finally have our lifeboat back on station.
“The all-weather lifeboat has now been fitted with AVX3, which is the newer jet management system which further enhances the fantastic capabilities of the lifeboat.’
During her absence, William F Yates was relieved by Reg (13-07, O.N.1314), and brought to Llandudno from Fleetwood.
