A MAN from Conwy county was jailed for six months after he hit a policeman in the thigh with his knee, a special court heard yesterday (January 3).
Richard Wyn Davies, aged 50, unemployed, of Parciau Close, Old Colwyn, admitted breaching a criminal behaviour order at Station Road, Colwyn Bay, and assaulting an emergency worker.
Prosecutor Anouska Youds said that, just before midnight on January 1, a worker at a town centre pub had called the police after Mr Davies had been abusive to the public.
There was no injury to the policeman from the assault.
Magistrates’ chairwoman Ceri Hughes told him: “We are very concerned about your persistent breaches of the criminal behaviour order.
“We are equally concerned about the assault on the police officer, somebody going about their job.”
She added at Mold: “There has been a wilful and persistent failure to comply with the criminal behaviour order.”
Simon Sargent, defending, said Mr Davies was alcohol-dependent and apologised for his actions.
Mr Sargent said: “He had no recollection of these events when he was interviewed by the police.
“It’s an unpleasant incident. Fortunately, there was no injury sustained by the police officer.”
