AN Abergele home has been shining bright in a bid to boost donations to a children's hospice.

The house, Rhosyn Melyn, on Llanfair Road, belonging to Jeanette and Ian Jackson, decked out in tens of thousands of lights, is helping raise money for Ty Gobaith/ Hope House.

This year's display boasts new decorations in the form of a large nutcracker and new animals for its woodland display.

"My favourite is the Santa house," said Jeanette.

"This also seems to be a favourite with the children who visit the display with Santa relaxing in his chair and his cat curled in front of the fire. We also have a little sweet treat for the children at the display.

The stunning display took two days to erect.

"I am the owner of The UPVC Outlet (based in Kinmel Bay) and we had help from some employees, Catherine Beach, Trevor Jones and Simon Dunning.

"Alongside myself and my husband Ian, we also had a helping hand from Paul Beach and Jennifer Dentith to whom we would like to say a big thank you as this could not have been achieved without the help.

"We have family who live nearby who love the display and also helped with the setting up.

"Family who live away are either going to see it when we get together at Christmas (fingers crossed!) or can see them on all Social Media sites," she said.

And what is the reaction of her neighbours to the festive lightshow?

"The neighbours all seem to love the display from the feedback received and are all interested in the charity we are raising money for.

"The immediate neighbours are also very understanding when there are quite a few visitors to the site, especially at the weekends."

The official switch-on was carried out by the Mayor and Mayoress on December 1. The display will be dismantled on January 6.

"It was a pleasure and a privilege for myself and the Mayoress to switch on the lights," said Abergele Mayor Cllr Alan Hunter.

"It is a fantastic display put on by Jeanette and Ian to raise much needed funds for Ty Gobiath/Hope House Children’s Hospice.

"This year there are more lights and a bigger display, I was concerned about the national grid when we hit the switch.

"The generosity of our local and wider community is well known and I’m sure there will be great support again this year."

"We chose this charity because like many charities, during the pandemic, they have really struggled with lack of fundraising and we wanted to bring a little bit of cheer during this time and Christmas is all about the children after all," added Jeanette.
