THE MP for Aberconwy spoke in Parliament to praise a newly established Llandudno football that is building a community for veterans.

Military Minds FC has a new supporter in the form of Robin Millar MP following his visit to meet the club's founders at Maesdu Park stadium last week.

David Owen, Kyle King and Ryan Davies, whose friends and family have served in the Armed Forces, wanted to give the chance to fellow ex-military personnel to meet and share their common experiences, as well as raise awareness and donations for Help For Heroes.

The team of 15 players does not yet have a kit but it has already reached the national stage, having been name checked by Mr Millar during a debate about Wales' contribution to the UK Armed Forces.

Speaking in the debate, Mr Millar said: “I cannot speak today about Wales’s contribution to the armed forces without speaking again about Welsh veterans. I am proud to say that in Aberconwy we have many, and we are home to several inspirational charities that offer support.

“On Saturday I had the extra pleasure of meeting a new initiative - the Military Minds football club. The founders - David Owen, Ryan Davies and Kyle King - and I sat together in Llandudno.

"They have set up that new charity football club to help veterans, and I have no doubt that this initiative will provide support in the months and years ahead.

"As someone who is passionate about football and about supporting our armed forces and veterans, I will follow their adventure with interest.”

Once Military Minds has raised enough funds, a new kit will be signed off by Help for Heroes ahead of its upcoming fixtures.

The club will also be taking donations during its games at home ground Llandudno FC with all proceeds going to the Help For Heroes.
