GOGS head coach Coach Ceri Jones praised his team's efforts after claiming their first win of the season.
RGC secured a tough 17-13 win over Ebbw Vale at Parc Eirias on Saturday in what made nervous watching for the home crowd.
The Steelmen kicked twice to go six points ahead after 25 minutes, with both teams missing several penalty chances. But Evan Lloyd gained RGC's first three points and was soon followed by a Brodie Coghlan try just before the break put the score at 10-6.
A Vale try soon after half time sparked a response from the Gogs, who powered over the line to regain a four-point lead at 17-13. It was then nervous watch as RGC's Pedr Jones was yellow carded with 10 minutes left, but the home side put bodies put in front and under the ball to see out the win.
"The game was not a typical RGC win, but to win ugly is more impressive," said RGC manager Jones.
"It was a massive defensive effort to get us over the 80 minutes, the support was huge, backing us with every tackle."
