This week’s nostalgia spotlight explores the history of Llandudno Rugby Club.
Founded in the 1950’s ,the club has welcomed dinner guests including Martin Johnson and Gareth Edwards, hosted a New Zealand rugby team and organised Donkey Derby Fun Day on Bofafon Fields.
On the field the club and first won the N Wales District J Championship as it was then over the season 1976 - 77.
The captain at the time was Mike Evans and one of the team Chris Neville who had played for Wales B and N Wales v Tonga then went onto play for London Welsh.
The same championship was shared with Wrexham in 1981/82 and the 1st XV won the N Wales cup in 2000 defeating Wrexham and again in 2001 defeating Rhyl.
The club’s badge and emblem is a goat, and they are often referred to as The Goats.
In 1976 the Club were presented with the stuffed head of a Great Orme Goat which hangs to this day above the bar.
