A WOMAN will be representing Conwy in the national final of the Classic Miss British Isles 2020-21 model competition next month.

Anna Robinson, 50, was crowned Classic Miss Conwy, and will be one of the 50 finalists at the national event at The Final Furlong Marquee at Chester Racecourse on Thursday, September 2.

Anna cut her teeth in the modelling world in her 20s, coming third in the 1990 Miss Llandudno competition and being named Miss Pioneer in 1992.

This is her first foray back into modelling though – “Then I got married, had three children, and got divorced!” she said.

“I turned 50 last year and just wanted a new challenge. It’s for women over 45, and it just gives me a bit of confidence.

“The organiser was saying they needed older women, so I thought: ‘Just because I’m 50, why not?’”

Anna will be required to take part in a professional photo shoot prior to the final, which itself will involve a catwalk show in front of the panel of judges.

Should she see off competition from across the UK, she will win a host of prizes, including the Classic Miss British Isles crown and studded winner’s sash, a modelling and influencer contract, a photo shoot for her and her family, and many more.

Previous winners of the Miss British Isles title have gone on to be signed by top modelling agencies, as well as appearing in major TV shows and even a Bollywood film.

Anna, who harbours dreams of buying a dog-friendly café as well as returning to the modelling world, will also be holding a charity lunch for woman who have suffered domestic abuse.

She, along with her friend and co-host of the lunch, Robbie Howarth, are looking for raffle prices if anyone has anything they would like to donate, and hopes her appearance at Classic Miss Conwy will give the event some extra publicity.

“I’m excited, obviously; a bit nervous, but because we’re doing the charity work as well, this will help so we can raise money for that as well,” Anna added.

There is no set date yet for the charity lunch, which was booked previously at Bodysgallen Hall in Llandudno, and has had to be rearranged twice due to COVID-19.
