WHSMITH in Colwyn Bay has finally closed to customers for good.
The store shut on Tuesday, July 17.
The retailer confirmed in January to the Pioneer that it would be shutting the Colwyn Bay branch.
They said at the time: "Unfortunately, we are unable to trade viably from this location and the decision has been taken to close the store as a result of the lease expiry in July.
"As one of the largest supporters of the UK high street, we are disappointed to be losing our presence in Colwyn Bay and we would like to thank all our customers for their support and for shopping with us.
"We are also extremely grateful for the commitment of our in store colleagues who we will support with this transition and redeploy to nearby stores, where possible.”
They added this week: "We have no current plans to close our Llandudno store."
Colwyn Bay Heritage Group posted on Facebook: "W.H.Smith said goodbye to Colwyn Bay in July, having been open in the town for a century. First opening on Penrhyn Road, the store soon moved to the then newly built Station Road shop.
"Our thanks to all the staff who've served the people of Colwyn Bay and the surrounding area during that time. In particular our thanks and best wishes to the most recent staff as they look to the future.
"Colwyn Bay and Station Road won't be the same without you."
