A LLANDUDNO golfer believes a return to her best form is just around the corner as the Ladies European Tour (LET) gets underway in London.
And Boulden hopes to lead by example at Aramco Team Series in St Albans’ Centurion Club as she looks to match the heights of her maiden LET win at the Swiss Open last September.
The Welsh ace is among the team captains for the London leg of the new competition on July 8-10, which will see three professionals team up with an amateur using a draft system to collate the line-ups.
“I’ve struggled a bit this year but I’m seeing a lot of good stuff in practice so now it’s the mental battle of taking that on to the golf course,” said Boulden, who learned her trade at Conwy Golf Club and remains a member.
“In the middle of last year, I was in a similar position to how I am now in terms of the mental state I’m in and my golf game, I wasn’t showing much form.
“I remember going to the Czech Republic [before the Swiss Open], really feeling my game was there but the scoring wasn’t at all. But it’s one of those games where you just don’t know what can happen week to week and the week after I ended up putting everything together and winning.
“I have to keep going back to that and remembering those feelings – a game can change so quickly and a lot of it is a mind game out there.
“If you stay positive and stay confident, it can all come together and it’s really exciting to have a new format."
Players are set to battle it out for a $1million prize pot with the London leg teeing off a set of LET events in the USA, Spain and Saudi Arabia.
The LET field will take to courses in Sotogrande (August 5-7), New York (October 14-16) and Jeddah (November 10-12), with the Jeddah event taking place just days after the Aramco Saudi Ladies International – presented by Public Investment Fund – from November 4-7.
The distinctive format is also made special by the opportunity provided to UK amateur golfers, who could find themselves holing an event-winning putt on the LET to scoop Boulden and co valuable prize money.
“It’s a lot of pressure for them but hopefully we can make them feel relaxed and enjoy themselves – the most important thing is everyone having a good time,” Boulden said. “Everything Aramco and Golf Saudi are doing for women’s golf and golf in general is really exciting and I’m proud to be an ambassador for them as well.
“I feel I have a responsibility to show up and play as best as I can.
“I love matchplay events and it will always be a dream of mine to represent Europe in a Solheim Cup. It’s definitely a future goal of mine so it’s exciting to get a taste of that through feeling that team vibe this week.”
Boulden will compete in the Aramco Team Series – London, the first of five 2021 Ladies European Tour (LET) events sponsored by Aramco. For more information, visit aramcoteamseries.com
