THE Nick Beer 10k is heading for a sell-out response with hundreds of runners expected in Llandudno.
The 29th edition of the popular race could welcome 450 runners to Llandudno and the Great Orme on July 18 after being given a race certificate by Welsh Athletics.
This followed the Welsh Government decision to ease restrictions on live outdoor events and social distancing measures are expected to be in place.
The run is named in memory of former club member Nick Beer, who passed away aged just 27 in 1992 after losing his battle with hydrocephalus.
Race co-director Kay Hatton said: "We are up to 430 entries, so we are confident of 450 plus, and maybe even the 500-limit. Matt Clowes, a previous winner, has also entered and is predicting a sub-30!”
A limited number of entries remain open for the event, which begins and finishes on Llandudno Promenade, opposite the Imperial Hotel, at the revised starting time of 10am.
St David’s Hospice is also holding a children’s 1k fun run near the race HQ on the prom at 9.30am.
Participants will be able to collect the second part of a unique three-medal set on completing the route, with an option to secure the third and final medal next year for the 30th anniversary.
The cost of entry is £15 for members and £17 for non-members. Entries close on Thursday, July 15.
