PLANS to create 21 houses with parking in Penrhyn Bay are progressing.

Caulmert Ltd has been appointed by Adra (Tai) Cyfyngedig (the applicant) to submit an application for full planning permission to Conwy County Borough Council for the creation of the affordable houses which will comprise of eight two-bedroom houses; eight three-bedroom houses and five two-bedroom bungalows.

The site is located off Plas Penrhyn, Penrhyn Bay, Llandudno.

A Design and Access statement says: "The proposed development will provide 100 per cent affordable units on the site in the form of 21 dwellings, and will make a positive contribution to the housing needs of the area, including the delivery of affordable housing in an area of significant need.

"The site is sustainably located with excellent access to public transport providing access to nearby towns and villages.

"There are regular buses to both Llandudno and Colwyn Bay where the nearest railway stations can be found, providing links to several stations along the North Wales coastline.

"In terms of the economic benefits that will arise from the proposed development, in the short term the proposal will offer employment opportunities for those contracted to develop and build the scheme.

"In addition, and In the long term the proposed development will ensure that local services and facilities are sustained such as convenience stores, post office, public houses and medical centre."

Llandudno Town Council have recommended the plans are approved.

During consultation responses, one couple raised concerns about the access and existing highway issues.

They wrote: "As residents of Farrington Court, we know only too well the problems that already exist from traffic chaos at the location between the GP surgery entrance and the first property on the right hand side, which is next door to the field of the proposed development."

Another objection stated: "I have concerns not only for the health and safety of local residents of Penrhyn Bay but also the local infrastructures such as schools and the doctors surgery."

The plans will be determined by Conwy's planning committee.
