A CHOIR that helps people living with learning disabilities to increase their confidence has been awarded £5,000.

Conwy Connect for Learning Disabilities was awarded the sum by the National Lottery which will enable it to continue to its Makaton Choir, which provides a space for people with learning disabilities to feel safe and listened to.

A grant of £8,000 has also been awarded to Menter Bro Aled Cyf to carry out improvements to public toilets in Llansannan.

Darren Millar, MS for Clwyd West, said: “It is absolutely fantastic that so many projects in Clwyd West have benefitted from National Lottery Funding in the past five years.

“We have many great organisations and groups across Conwy and Denbighshire which provide vital services to local communities and this funding has been instrumental in enabling them to continue with and expand upon this work.

“We are currently still living in challenging times and this funding will go a long way to supporting communities during this tough period.”

The National Lottery Community Fund has awarded a total of £2.98million of funding in Clwyd West to support 84 local community projects since 2016.

Grants have ranged from £850 to Clwb Cemig up to more than £930,000 to the British Red Cross branch.
